Pope Francis at the Sanctuary of Loreto

Pope Francis visited the Virgin of Loreto on March 25, 2019, a Marian shrine located in central Italy, in the "Marche" region. At the end of the Mass, Francis signed the Post-Synodal Exhortation on young people: 'Christus vivit', 'Christ lives'.

There, too, the Pope prayed in silence for a long time in front of the altar of the Holy House. In his homily, he said that "the Mother of God does not cease to grant spiritual benefits to those who, with faith and devotion, come here in prayer".

On the spot, he prayed before the image of the Blessed Virgin before celebrating Holy Mass. For 15 minutes, before the Marian image, Pope Francis gathered in silent prayer; an impressive scene of deep spirituality.

After these brief minutes of prayer, the Pope began the celebration of the Eucharist, at the end of which he offered the Virgin Mary the Post-Synodal Exhortation and gave a speech.
The Shrine of Loreto is one of the main Marian places of pilgrimage in Italy and Europe. Inside it is, according to an ancient tradition, the Holy House, the house of the Virgin in Nazareth, which has miraculously been transferred to this Italian city.
In Nazareth, the house had two parts: a cave, which can still be seen in that city of Galilee, and the brick building, which is the part venerated in Loreto.
Inside the humble building is the chapel dedicated to the Virgin, where the well-known image is venerated.
